Thanks Rick. I too am wondering what others do, and I am wondering if I am doing it right. I could do things the way you do, but I just wonder what the logic is behind the standard moodle backup strategy.
I mean, after all, you shouldn't have to have a running site in order to restore. Isn't the need for a restore based on the assumption that there isn't anything there, and you need a restoration? How then can you restore something if you have nothing?
Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?
