Hi Bob,
I agree that Sum of Grades does seem to not respect 'Aggregate only non empty grades,' but Doug was just wanting a way to keep track of 'actual points' earned, and this setup does that. His calculations to get percentages is done in a non Moodle gradebook. With this particular setup, students would see an F, ONLY if the course is set to show letter grades.
Maybe we aught to create an issue in the bug tracker about it.
I have an unexpected day off tomorrow due to RAINY weather and I think I will play with it some more then.
