Hi Petras,
You write 'Certain student grades...' suggesting that some can be entered and some now. Is that correct? If so, it may be the case that the grades have somehow been overridden in the gradebook, as explained in the FAQ 'Why can't I edit grades for assignment submissions?' in Assignment FAQ.
