I am not sure you can, at least not without hacking the Front Page code. One way around this might be in the Role assigned on the Front Page. What you might want to try is this; the Book has a capability called "viewhiddenchapters". If you switch that to "Allowed" for all users, you should be able to hide the book, making it accessible through the HTML block, and still allow users to see the contents. I stress "might work" here, simply because I have never tried it, but I cannot immediately see where it would not work.
