Re: Cloning a Moodle Site

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the response and my apologies - I should have been more clear. I am actually the Moodle Administrator who is based in the IT department at my institution. While my server knowledge is at an intermediate level, everything related to the Moodle site (hardware, software, etc.) has been entrusted in my care. smile My predecessor left without documenting anything, so I'm trying to pick up the pieces the best way I can.

To answer your questions:

  1. I would like to mirror just the one site/instance which happens to be on one virtual machine server. I could mirror either the entire site or the entire server since there are no other Moodle instances on the VM except for the production instance.
  2. The Moodle production instance is running on Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS. I can set up another VM with the same OS for purposes of mirroring.
  3. Ideally, I'd like the cloning to happen once a day, but I'd like to see how to set up the cloning for any time a change is made to the master server.

Would you mind giving me some advice as how to go about setting up the cloning process as it relates to Moodle? As I mentioned previously, I will have database replication set up for our Moodle database (the one and only production database is currently running PostgreSQL).

Thanks,

Jeff
