Create a reusable program

Hi,

I am running on version 2.7

I would like to create a Degree IT program.  In this program there are many subjects.

This is the way I did it, but I am not sure is this a right things to do.

1.  I created a Degree in IT as a course

2.  Then, all subjects as metacourse and link them to Degree in IT

Something bordering me is, 

a.  If students enrolled in different batches of year, do I have to create new set Degree in IT program

for each enrollment, if not itsn't that the activities will be mixed up? what is the best way to do it?

I tried the Moodle English program, but don't seem to get the idea.  If you have a good example, pls point me there.  Thanks.
